S5 Ep.09

Put Upon Percy

Summary: Percy is grumbling that he has too much work, hence the word “put upon”. After an extremely busy day, he returns to the shed tired and dirty. Next day, however, disaster strikes at the coalmines, and an avalanche erupts. Percy and his crew take shelter by a canvas barrier along the Cliffside, which saves them from being crushed by the rocks, but gets them buried all the same. After being dug out, Percy is rewarded with a new coat for his bravery. He doesn’t mind that being put upon him!

Script

Narrator: Percy huffed grumpily into the yards. He was feeling put upon and said so.

Percy: I feel put upon.

Narrator: He complained to Thomas. Thomas was confused.

Thomas: Put upon what? The rails?

Percy: No. Put upon with work. Driver says he is too.

Thomas: Put upon?! What a silly saying.

Narrator: Replied Thomas. But Annie and Clarabel and they sang bout it too.

Annie + Clarabel: Percy’s been put upon, put upon, put upon. Percy’s been put upon. Poor old Percy!

Narrator: Percy is being put upon.

Percy: I am! I am! I am!

(Percy chuffs away)

Narrator: He collected the metal from the foundry… coal from the yards… flower from the mills… rocks from the Quarry… and fuel from the deepho. Then he delivered it all to the Docks. Next he collected some empty freight cars.

Freight car 1: Who’s this dirty little engine?

Freight car 2: We want Thomas or Duck!

Narrator: Percy ignored them.

Percy: Put upon. Put upon. That’s what I am!

Narrator: That night all the engines laughed at him.

(Henry, Gordon and James whistle)

Thomas: We can see what is been put upon you!

Narrator: Said Thomas.

Sir Topham Hatt: Silence! Percy you’ve done a good days work. Now get a good nights rest.

Percy: Yes sir. Thank you, sir.

Narrator: Next morning, he took some freight cars into the yards. Then he had to push the empty freight cars into the coalmines. When he arrived there was trouble. The formance spoke to his driver.

The formance: The freight cars are stuck in the meganisim. All they need is a good push.

Percy’s driver: We’ll do it right away.

Narrator: Percy shunted back to the large canvas carrier that is used to protect his line from those rocks. Percy charged the line of freight cars too fast and too hard.

Percy: Oh no!

Narrator: Gasped Percy. The freight cars broke free but ran out of control to the mines below.

The Freight Cars: On! On! Faster! Faster!

Narrator: The silly freight cars yelled. Then there was trouble again!

(Freight cars crash into a wall)

(Siren wails)

(Mine rumbles)

Miner: Get out of here fast! The mine’s collapsing!

(Mine rumbles)

(Mine explodes)

Percy’s driver: We’ll just have to make a run for it Percy!

Narrator: Called his driver.

Percy: There’s going an avalanche!

Narrator: Wailed Percy. And he was right. Worse still the track he was on began to crumble.

Percy: Oh help!

Narrator: Wailed Percy. Then he remembered something he had seen earlier.

Percy: There is a canvas barrier by the track. That might save us!

Narrator: They were just in time!

(The canvas and rocks fall down on Percy)

Narrator: Percy was right. The canvas did indeed save them. But the miners didn’t know that.

The formance: The avalanche has buried an engine’s crew!

Narrator: Shouted the formance.

The formance: We must help them!

Narrator: When Percy had been rescued, Sir Topham Hatt spoke to Percy’s driver and fireman then to Percy.

Sir Topham Hatt: Driver told me how brave you are, Percy. As a reward you will be repainted at the works.

Percy: Oh thank you, Sir.

Narrator: When he returned Percy’s paint glistened in the sun.

Thomas: I’m sorry I teased you, Percy. You were certainly put upon on by that avalanche.

Percy: Yes indeed but just look at my coat of paint. Now I don’t mind being put upon……

Rusty and the Boulder

S5 Ep. 26

Rusty and the Boulder

Summary: A new quarry is built in the mountains for the Narrow gauge Engines—but no one except Rusty has noticed that a large and mysterious Boulder is standing on top of the mountain. Rusty is un-nerved by its presence and believes that it doesn’t want them in the Quarry. As work progresses and gets heavier, a new machine called Thumper is brought in to help. As a result of his thumping, the Boulder is shaken loose, and chases Rusty, Skarloey and Rheneas down the line. Boulder’s journey ends when he narrowly misses Percy and completely demolishes a nearby shed. Sir Topham Hatt sighs and realizes they should’ve left this part of the Island undisturbed. So they moved Boulder to a hill close to the Yards when it can do no more harm.

Script

Narrator: On the Island of Sodor, high up on the mountains was a mysterious Boulder. It had stood alone for a long time. But one day, workmen arrived to build a Quarry on the land below. Rusty, the little diesel met Thomas and Percy.

Percy: Where’s all this rock coming from?

Narrator: Percy asked.

Rusty: The new Quarry. This mountain rock is good for many things. Although, it’s dangerous up there.

Thomas: Why?

Narrator: Asked Thomas.

Rusty: Because of a big Boulder. I think it’s watching me.

Narrator: Said Rusty nervously.

Percy: How can it be? Boulders do not have eyes.

Rusty: Well Percy there’s something strange about this one.

Narrator: Just then, Edward arrived. He was delivering a new piece of machinery for the Quarry.

Rusty: What’s that?

Narrator: Asked Rusty.

Edward: It’s called Thumper. Apparently collect the rock faster.

Narrator: Replied Edward. Soon, Thumper was working hard. The men were pleased but no one bothered to check the Boulder. When it rained, the workmen went away. Rusty gazed up and shivered, above stood Boulder. Suddenly a large stab of rock landed on the rails. Rusty was shocked. Driver was concerned.

Rusty’s driver: We must leave till the weather’s better. The rain loosen some of this rock.

Rusty: I think its Boulder wanting us to go away.

(Rusty and his driver leave the Boulder)

Narrator: The next day the sun shone. Thumper was working harder than ever! Suddenly Rusty noticed something.

Rusty: Boulder’s moving!

Rusty’s driver: Don’t be so daft it can’t!

Narrator: Said the driver. But it could…

(Boulder falls down near Rusty and his driver)

Rusty: It’s rolling along our line!

(Rusty reverses as fast as he could)

Rusty’s driver: We’ll stop here until Boulder passes by!

Narrator: Said the driver. But Boulder was nowhere to be seen! Then……..

Rusty’s driver: Oh no! It’s behind us!

Narrator: Just ahead they saw a small junction. One line went uphill. Boulder thundered past! Meanwhile Skarloey was making his way up to the Quarry…then he saw Boulder!

Skarloey: Help!!!!!

Narrator: Boulder was catching up fast!

(Boulder crashes into the water tower)

Skarloey: We must warn the yards!

Narrator: Shouted Skarloey.

Rusty: Yes! But how?!

Narrator: Called Rusty. Boulder rounded a bend and there ahead was Rheneas!

Rheneas: It’s running loose!

Narrator: Yelled Rheneas. His driver drove him back as fast as he could.

Rheneas: Hurry!

Rheneas’ driver: Better a smash than a squash!

Narrator: Sighed his driver. At the yards Percy was collecting trucks then he heard Boulder.

Percy: Oh no! It’s heading straight for me!

Narrator: Squeaked Percy.

(Boulder crashes into a nearby shed)

(Flames burst out of the nearby shed)

Narrator: When Sir Topham Hatt inspected the damage, he decided to close the mine. Then he looked at Boulder.

Sir Topham Hatt: We should’ve left this part of the Island…alone.

Narrator: They moved Boulder to a hill close by the Yards. Rusty is sure that on a clear night. It is gazing up at the mountain. And that is size are being carried on the wind, to where it once used to stand proud and silent. I wonder if Rusty’s right. Don’t you?

Snow

S5 Ep.25

Snow

Summary: Thomas grumbles about the snowy weather Sodor’s having, so Rusty tells him a story about what happened to Skarloey one winter. The little engines was making his way to the Slate Mines, but has to pass through a ravine, where, above them, are the mines and a dangerously large heap of snow. At the Mines, a long line of full freight cars are being winched down the incline. But something goes wrong and they break away, where they crash through some buffers, and into the ravine. They disturbed they heap of snow, causing an avalanche to fall on Skarloey below. When workmen arrive to help dig him out, the heat from Skarloey’s boiler had packed the snow around them to make a sort of igloo. Once free, the men find the driver and fireman completely unharmed—just drinking cocoa as if nothing had happened!

Script

Narrator: It was winter time on the Island of Sodor. The snow covered fields and railway lines. All the engines were hard at work except Percy.

Thomas: Come on, Percy. This is no time to have a rest.

Percy: I’m stuck! And my funnel is freezing up! Driver’s gone for help.

Thomas: Huh!

Narrator: Huffed Thomas and went on his way. Later Thomas had to helped clear snow by a tunnel. But it was too deep. And he got stuck. Thomas was very cross.

Thomas: Snow is nothing but trouble!

Narrator: Moaned Thomas. Rusty was close by.

Rusty: Driver says this winter is as bad as the worst of all.

Thomas: How worse?

Narrator: Asked Thomas.

Rusty: I’ll tell you.

Narrator: Replied Rusty. And then the little engine did.

Rusty: Skarloey was working a line in a Slate Mine in the mountains. When the snow came, it was difficult to work. The useless snow as a double-buffer zone to help stop the cars skidding through the ravine. One day Skarloey set off to the Mine swith some empty cars. Meanwhile there was trouble at the Mine. The winch that holds the cars up and down wasn’t working properly. Skarloey had reached the ravine. High above him were the mine yards.

Skarloey’s driver: That snow looks dangerous.

Narrator: Said the driver.

Skarloey’s driver: The sound of your engine and the freight cars could cause an avalanche. I’ll set of an emergency cap. And see what happens.

Narrator: Skarloey watched as his driver prepared. Then they ran for the cap. The bang echoed around the gorge.

Skarloey: Nothing happened.

Skarloey’s driver: Good!

Narrator: Said his driver.

Skarloey’s driver: All is well! We’ll have a cup of cocoa and make our way.

Narrator: But high above them, was not well. A long line full of cars, was about to be winched down the slope. The had just started our journey when some empty cars became derailed. The winch groaned.

Freight Car 1: Break it!

Freight Car 2: Snap it!

Narrator: Shouted the freight cars. And…they did!

Freight cars: On! On! Faster! Faster!

Narrator: They giggled.

A workman: The snow back and buffer will stop them!

Narrator: Said a workman. But he was wrong. The freight cars plunged into the ravine.

(Freight cars falling down into the ravine)

Narrator: Skarloey and his driver heard the noise and looked up.

Skarloey + Skarloey’s driver: AVALANCHE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Narrator: They cried.

(The snow moves down)

(Snow covers Skarloey and his driver)

Narrator: When the slow plow cleared, there was no sign of Skarloey! He was buried deep inside the high drift blocking the ravine!

Rusty: And then came the funny moment part.

Thomas: What funny part? What about the avalanche?

Narrator: Asked Thomas.

Rusty: Welll. No one knew that the heat from Skarloey’s engine had helped him made an igloo.

The workmen: It’s a snowball! It’s a snow house! It’s an engine!

Narrator: They cleared away the ice. Only the fine Skarloey’s driver and fireman were drinking cocoa. As if nothing had happened!

Thomas: Lucky for him! Just goes to show you. And trust freight cars…

Narrator: Said Thomas.

Rusty: …or snow.

Narrator: Said Rusty. The manager just cleared away the snow from him when Gordon puffed by with his machine.

Gordon: Hey look out! There’s snow about! 

Narrator: He stopped by the tunnel and wheeshed loudly. Then it happened…

Gordon: Oh no!-US/Uh oh!-UK

(The snow covers Gordon)

Gordon: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Narrator: Cried Gordon.

Thomas: If Skarloey survived the snowfall probably a big proud engine like you should do the same!

Narrator: Chuckled Thomas.

Gordon: Puh!!!!!!

Narrator: Moaned Gordon. And he felt as silent as the snow………….

Something in the Air

S5 Ep.15

Something In The Air

Summary: Thomas has an accident when a crate of fish lands on his boiler when he was picking up Henry’s freight cars. As he speeds along the coastal line to the Docks, they discover that the line has been damaged by high tides, which can take Thomas’ weight but not big engines like Henry. When night falls, Thomas tries to explain to Henry about the danger, but Henry is too busy teasing him of his fishy smell! However, the Yard Manager fails to warn Henry also, when told of the news, and Henry slides off the tracks, where he is buffer deep in seawater! As soon as the tides were high enough, floating cranes lift Henry out of the water, where the big green engine is humiliated when he finishes his journey to the Docks in a barge full of smelly fish! After a wash down, Henry says sorry for teasing Thomas

Script

Narrator: One day, Thomas was at the key side of a small village. Fish were being loaded into his cars. The work took a long time. The fishermen were using old equipment and Thomas was worried.

Thomas: I’m going to be late for Henry at the Docks he won’t like this. Please hurry up!

Narrator: Thomas was rudely interrupted.

(Crate of fish crashes into Thomas)

Narrator: His driver and fireman laughed.

Thomas: Pheww!

Narrator: Sniffed Thomas.

Thomas: What a pung!

Narrator: He was glad he was speeding along the coastal run. Then they saw a man waving a red flag.

Thomas: What’s the matter now?

The man: High tides are damaging the track. I have marked the spot.

Thomas’ driver: We’ll go and inspect.

Narrator: Said Thomas’ driver.

(Thomas goes to the tides)

Thomas’ driver: It would be dangerous for heavy engines like Henry.

Narrator: Agreed the driver.

Thomas’ driver: But for Thomas its safe enough.

Narrator: The guard put a lamp by the damaged the track to warn

The guard: When we get into the Docks I’ll tell them to close the line.

(Thomas leaves the area)

Narrator: Henry was waiting for Thomas’ cars.

(Thomas arrives at Brendam Docks)

Henry: Puh! You’re late! That smell is making me ill!

Thomas: It’s the fish!

Narrator: Replied Thomas.

Thomas: And there is danger on the rails. That is why were late.

Henry: Huh! You’re the only the danger on the rails, Thomas! And stop wasting time and get your cars each on my train!

Narrator: Thomas’ driver and fireman were in the Yard Man’s office when they heard Henry’s whistle. He was steaming out of the station along the heavy train, called The Flying Kipper.

Thomas’ driver: What rude is Henry taking tonight?

Yard Man: The coastal line. It’s the quickest.

Thomas’ driver: But I told you!

Narrator: Cried the driver.

Thomas’ driver: That’s dangerous for big engines like Henry!

Narrator: The Yard Master quickly phoned the signalman. Henry rolled passed by the signal box.

Henry: I’ll soon make up for last time.

Narrator: The signalman couldn’t hear the warning! By the time he did, Henry was far away in a cloud of steam. But when Henry reached the coastal track, his hopes were a fast run were dashed. Fog floated everywhere.

Henry: I can’t see!

Narrator: Cried Henry. Nor could his driver. And when he could it was too late!!

(Henry applied the brakes)

(Henry goes into the water)

(Water goes out Henry’s mouth)

Narrator: As soon as the tide was high enough, Henry was craned out of the water.

Sir Topham Hatt: Engines don’t swim, Henry. You’re meant to deliver fish not swim with them. You should know that by now!

Henry: Yes sir. I’m sorry sir.

Narrator: When Henry arrived at the Docks, Cranky the crane looked down at him.

Cranky: My my Henry I expect you’ll have some fishy tales to tell. But take my advice you’ll have a long whole’s down first.

Narrator: But there was worst to come.

The children: Look they’ve caught all this fish and a green whale. It’s not a whale. It’s a monster.

Narrator: Henry was most upset. Thomas smell felt sorry for Henry.

Thomas: Come on. You’re driver says it’s time for a nice wash down. Then you’ll feel much better.

(Thomas pushes Henry too the wash down)

Narrator: And Henry did.

Henry: I’m sorry I was rude to you, Thomas.

Thomas: That’s alright. But can you smell something?

Henry: W-w-hat?!

Thomas: Fresh air. 

Henry: Oh yes.

Narrator: Replied Henry happily……

Squeak, Rattle and Roll

S8 Ep.15

Squeak, Rattle and Roll

Summary: Gordon thinks pulling the Express makes him the most important engine on Sodor. When Gordon is departing from Brendam Docks, Diesel is cross when he has to move to let Gordon through and, to spite him, tells Gordon that steam engines will soon be scrapped.

Script

Narrator: Gordon is big and blue. And the fastest engine on the whole Sodor. He loves to pull the Express. Gordon thinks he is the most important engine on the island. One day, Gordon was pulling the Express at Brendam Docks. But Diesel was on the same line.

Gordon: Out of my way!

Narrator: Sniffed Gordon.

Gordon: Express train coming through!

Narrator: Diesel had to back up. This made him cross.

Diesel: You steamies are old and clapped out. When Sir Topham Hatt realizes this, you’ll be scrapped!

Gordon: Scrapped?! Puh! I’m as fast as I ever want.

Narrator: And he chuffed proudly out of the Docks. Gordon was speeding along the beautiful countryside’s. He was having a wonderful day. But then he heard a horrible squeaking noise.  Gordon was upset. Squeaking could mean only one thing…something was wrong.

Gordon: What if Diesel’s right? What if Sir Topham Hatt scraps me?

Narrator: Gordon squeaked sadly up the hill. The hill was steep and Gordon had to slow down. The slower he went the quiet the squeak came. Gordon was delighted!

Gordon: Aha! If I go slowly no one will hear me squeak!

Narrator: And he chuffed slowly back to Tidmouth Sheds. That evening Sir Topham Hatt came to see Gordon.

Sir Topham Hatt: Tomorrow is a very special day. I am taking some village children on a boat trip. You Gordon are to take us to Brendam Docks. The boat leaves at 9:00 so you must not be late.

Narrator: The next morning, Gordon waited for everyone to go. Then he puffed slowly away so no one could hear his squeak. Once after the sheds Gordon started to pick up speed. His pistons pumped and his and he began to squeak again!

Gordon: Oh my!

Narrator: Said Gordon. Then he heard something even worse. It was a rattle!

Gordon: Oh dear! Oh dear! Diesel was right I’m falling apart! What will Sir Topham Hatt say?

Narrator: So Gordon slowed down. Gordon crawled slowly into the station to collect the children. Gordon’s boiler sank. If he went slowly the children would miss their boat trip. But if he went quickly Sir Topham Hatt would hear his squeak and rattle. He’d know Gordon was wearing apart. And send them to the scrap yard. With the children safely on board, Gordon slowly puffed away from the station. Gordon chuffed slowly through the countryside’s. He thought things are going well. But Sir Topham Hatt was very cross. He spoke sternly for Gordon.

Sir Topham Hatt: Why are you fooling around, Gordon? You must be going faster or the children will be missing their boat. And that will never do!

Gordon: Yes, sir!

Narrator: Said Gordon sadly.

Sir Topham Hatt: Remember you are the fastest engine on the island

Narrator: This made Gordon feel proud.

Gordon: This must be my last trip. But I’ll get the children on the boat on time.

Narrator: His pistons pumped faster. His pistons pumped harder.

Gordon: Must be on time! Must be on time!

Narrator: He puffed. Soon he began to squeak and rattle too. And then began to make another noise. A knocking noise but Gordon didn’t care. If this was his last trip he was going as fast as possibly could. Gordon squeaked and rattled and knocked all the way to Brendam Docks. Salty and Henry were surprised. They haven’t heard an engine make such awful noises.

Diesel: Sounds like another steamy engine ready for the scrap yards.

Narrator: Sneered Diesel. But Gordon didn’t care about Diesel. He had made good time. And the children could catch their boat.

Gordon: I made it!

The children: Thank you, Gordon!!

Sir Topham Hatt: I knew you could do it. But why have you been to the Repair Yard?

Gordon: The Repair Yard?!

Sir Topham Hatt: You have been making lots of noises. You need to have your engine looked at.

Gordon: So you’re not going to scrap me?!

Sir Topham Hatt: Scrap Gordon?! The fastest engine on Sodor?! Who would pull the Express?!

Narrator: Gordon beamed with pride. Gordon spent the next day having his pistons polished, his axles greased, and his wheels well oiled. At last he didn’t make any more funny noises. Gordon was as good as new. And he felt even better………..

The Flying Kipper

S1 Ep.19

The Flying Kipper

Summary: Henry is chosen to take The Flying Kipper, a good trains fish to markets across the Island. It’s a cold winter and there’s been bad snowfall, which makes for trouble further along the line. Henry has smooth run up until a point, unknowing that a signal has been forced down with the heavy snow and he’s being diverted into a siding due to frozen points! Through pure chance the crew of the train parked in the siding have just left the brake van, which is torn to pieces, which Henry crashes into it, along with the good load of cocoa being ruined! Sir Topham Hatt seizes the opportunity of the crash to rebuild Henry, sending him to Crewe to be given a new shape and larger fire box, eliminating the need for special coal and making Henry the engine deserves to be.

Script

Narrator: One winter evening Henry’s driver said…

Henry’s driver: We’ll be out early tomorrow, we’ve got to take The Flying Kipper. Don’t tell Gordon, but I think if we pull The Kipper nicely, Sir Topham Hatt will let us pull the Express. The special coal they gave you is working well.

Henry: Hooray! That will be lovely!

Narrator: All kinds of ships use the harbor at the big station by the sea. There are passenger ships, cargo ships and fishing boats also come here. They unload their fish on the key. Some of them goes to shops in town. And the rest in a special train to other places far away. This is the train railway men called “The Flying Kipper”. Henry was ready at 5:00. There was snow and frost. Men hustled and shouted loading up crates of fish. The last door banged and the guard showed green lamp and The Flying Kipper was ready to go.

(Henry whistles and set off)

Henry: Come on come on! Don’t be silly don’t be silly!

Narrator: Puffed Henry to the freight cars. The cars shuttered and groaned.

Freight cars: Trickety trunk! Trickety trunk! All right! All right!

Henry: That’s better! That’s better!

Narrator: Puffed Henry.

(Henry whistles)

Narrator: Clouds of smoke and steamed poured from his funnel into the cold air. And the fires light shone brightly.

Henry: Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!

Narrator: Panted Henry. They were going well the lighter better. The signal light shone green as they passed. Then a yellow signal appeared ahead. His driver prepared to stop. But the home signal was down.

Henry’s driver: All clear Henry! Away we go!

Narrator: They couldn’t know the switches from the main line to a siding, frozen and the home signal should’ve been set a danger of the snow and forced it down. A freight train was waiting in a siding to let The Flying Kipper pass and the driver and the fireman were drinking cocoa in the caboose.

The conductor: The Kipper’s do!

Narrator: Said the conductor.

Henry’s fireman: Who cares?

Narrator: Said the fireman.

Henry’s fireman: This is good cocoa!

Narrator: The driver got up.

Henry’s driver: Come on, fireman back to our engine!

Narrator: They got out just in time.

(Henry crashes into the brake van)

(Henry derails of the rails)

Narrator: Henry’s driver and fireman jumped clear before the crash but Henry lay dazed and surprised. Sir Topham Hatt came to see him.

Henry: The signal was down, sir!

Narrator: Said Henry.

Sir Topham Hatt: Cheer up, Henry. Wasn’t your fault. Ice and snow cause the accident. I’m sending you a crew, a fine place for sick engines. They’ll give you a new shape and a larger firebox. You’ll feel a different engine and you won’t need special coal anymore. Won’t that be nice?

Henry: Yes, sir.

Narrator: Said Henry doubtfully. Henry liked being a crew. But was glad to come home. A crowd of people waited to see him arriving in his new shape. He looked so splendid and strong that they gave him three cheers.

Henry: Peep. Peep.

Narrator: He whistled.

Henry: Thank you very much!

Narrator: I’m sorry to say that a lot of little children are often late for school. Because they wait to see Henry go by. They often see him pull the Express  he does it so well and Gordon is jealous. But that another story………….

Thomas and the Special Letter

S4 Ep. 22

Thomas and the Special Letter

Summary: Thomas, Percy and Toby, are suspicious when all of the engines are called to the sheds one evening. When everyone is gathered, Sir Topham Hatt announces that a little girl in the big city has written a letter asking Sir Topham Hatt’s engines to pay a visit. The engines are selected to go are excited, but must teach the others how to look after the yard whilst they’re away. Thomas throws the schedule out of proportion when he crashes through a wall in attempt to show off to Oliver, but arrives from the works just in time to allow the cavalcade to move off. Naturally, the visit is a success.

Script

Narrator: One evening Thomas brought his last train to the junction. Percy was glad to see him.

Percy: Are you on your way to the big station, Thomas?

Thomas: Yes I am.

Percy: Why? Cause I’m going there too.

Thomas: I think something’s up.

Narrator: Toby looked up at the sky.

Toby: Where?

Thomas: Not up in there, down here.

Narrator: Laughed Thomas.

Toby: How can something be up? When it’s down?

Narrator: Thomas was too excited to explain.

Thomas: Bust my buffers look over there!

Narrator: Mavis, BoCo, Bill, Ben, Donald, Oliver and Douglas paraded passed.

Donald: Good evening you three! Aren’t we all find out of sight?

Toby: Very splendid indeed.

Narrator: Admired Toby.

Donald: Sorry we can’t stop. Sir Topham Hatt wants us all in the big station.

Thomas: What is this all about?

Narrator: Asked Thomas.

Thomas’ driver: Sir Topham Hatt has a plan.

Narrator: Answered his driver.

Thomas’ driver: Come on!

(Percy whistles departing the station)

(Thomas whistles departing)

(Toby rings his bell leaving)

Narrator: So they followed the other engines at the big station and the line.

(All the engines whistle loudly)

Sir Topham Hatt: SILENCE!!!!!!!!

Narrator: Called Sir Topham Hatt.

Sir Topham Hatt: I have an important letter to read from a little girl who was 5 years old:

Dear Thomas and all the engines,

Please can I meet you, my friends say they were like to meet you too. You can come to my house for tea. But my mommy says there aren’t any railway tracks in my house. Can you come to the station instead? Thank you very much. It seems…

Narrator: Continued Sir Topham Hatt.

Sir Topham Hatt: That there are many girls and boys who would like to meets you. Therefore we’re all going to the big city far away.

All The Engines: Horray! Horray!

Narrator: Whistled the engines.

Sir Topham Hatt: SILENCE!!!!!!!!!!! Other engines are working here while were away so please show them what to do.

Narrator: As Annie and Clarabel were going to the big city too, Thomas and Oliver practiced with some other coaches. Thomas grew more and more excited. Too excited for his own good.

Thomas: I’m glad I’m a splendid engine. Sir Topham Hatt thinks I’m really useful. I have a race with Bertie once. I wooshed through the tunnel and stopped an inch from the buffers.

Narrator: Then Thomas made his mistake…

Thomas: Just like this!

Narrator: He boasted.

(Thomas hits the buffers…hit a gate…sloped down the garden with a fast horn playing…and he hits the wall)

(A low horn plays)

Narrator: No one was hurt. But Thomas’ front was badly bent. They telephoned to Sir Topham Hatt.

Sir Topham Hatt: I’ll send the workmen. But if they can’t mend Thomas in time  we’ll have to go to the big city without him.

Narrator: Poor Thomas… 8-o-clock next morning the engines waited at the junction. Toby and Percy reached on a truck and Duck had pushed them on placed behind Edward. Gordon, James and Henry were waiting to leave off.

(James whistles)

Narrator: They whistled impatiently.

(Henry whistles)

(Gordon whistles)

Narrator: Sir Topham Hatt looked at his watch.

Sir Topham Hatt: I’ll wait 1 more minute for Thomas then we have to go.

(Thomas arrives at the big station)

Thomas: Oh! Thank goodness you’re still here.

Annie: I hope were not late, and it’s just after 8.

Narrator: The conductor blew his whistle. And waved his flag. The engines cheered.

Thomas-Duck: Look out big city, here we come!!

Narrator: And the cable cab puffed away. Later at the big city, all the engines were lined up in a splendid shed. Children were delighted to meet their friends.

Thomas: I’m glad the little girl wrote to us.

Narrator: Whispered Thomas to Percy.

Thomas: Isn’t it wonderful when happiness a letter can bring?
