Script

Narrator: Thomas the Tank Engine was feeling bright and cheerful. It was a splendid day.

Thomas: Good morning!

Narrator: He whistled to some cows. But the cows didn’t reply.

Thomas: Never mind. They’re busy with their breakfast.

Narrator: Next he saw Bertie.

Thomas: Hello Bertie. Care for a race today?

Narrator: But all Bertie could say was…

Bertie: OUCH!!!!!! THAT’S ANOTHER HOLE IN THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas: I’m sorry Bertie.

Narrator: Smiled Thomas. Thomas was still in good spirits when Bertie arrived at the next station.

Thomas: Bad luck, Bertie. Now if you were a steam engine, you would run on a pair of reliable rails.

Bertie: Huh! The railway was suppose to delivered tar amend the road 2 weeks ago. You can’t trust a thing that runs on rails.

Thomas: I run on rails. You can trust me, Bertie. I’ll see if I can find out what’s happened.

Narrator: Thomas puffed away towards the big station.

(Thomas puffs along the countryside)

Narrator: James was snorting about in the yard.

James: It’s too bad!  Percy goes to work at the harbour and I do his job here, there and everywhere! TAKE THAT!!!!!

The freight cars: OH!!!!!

Narrator: Groaned the freight cars.

The freight cars: Just you wait we’ll show you!

Narrator: Gordon laughed.

Gordon: I’ll tell you what, James if you pretended to be ill, everywhere you couldn’t shunt freight cars here or go to the Quarry there. Could you?

James: What a good idea!

Narrator: Agreed James.

James: Look here comes Thomas! Start pretending now!

Narrator: Thomas was sorry to see the engines looking miserable.

Thomas: Cheer up! It’s a beautiful day!

Gordon: Yes, but not for James.

Thomas: What’s the matter?

Narrator: Asked Thomas.

Gordon: He’s sick.

Narrator: Replied Gordon.

James: Yes. He is… I mean I am! I don’t feel well at all.

Thomas: Don’t worry. I’ll help out.

Narrator: Gordon and James snickered quietly to each other. Some of James’ coupled behind Thomas and he steamed away to a Quarry. The cars were still cross.

The freight cars: We couldn’t pay James back for bumping us so we’ll play tricks on Thomas instead! One engine is as good as another!

Narrator: But Thomas didn’t hear them. He collected all the stones from the Quarry and set off back to the junction.

(Thomas puffing by the junction)

Narrator: Danger lay ahead.

The freight cars: Now for our plan! Go faster! Go faster!

Narrator: They pushed Thomas over switches!

Thomas’ driver: Slow down!!

Narrator: Called Thomas’ driver and applied the brakes.

(The holder of the boat releases…Thomas goes to the other side of the pond…Thomas miserable)

Narrator: Poor Thomas stood dazed and surprised in a muddy pond, as a toad hired in suspiciously.

(Thomas sinks down)

Thomas: Bust my buffers! The day started to well too!

Narrator: Duck pulled away the cars. And Edward helped Thomas back to the junction. Suddenly he remembered the missing tar. He told Edward all about it too.

Edward: That’s strange! A car full of TAR has been left at my station. That must be it! The driver will make sure it gets to Bertie now.

Narrator: Later James spoke to Thomas.

James: I’m sorry Thomas about your accident. And so is Gordon we didn’t mean to get you into trouble.

Gordon: No indeed, a mere misunderstanding, Thomas. All is well that ends well.

Narrator: Just then Bertie arrived. He looked more much cheerful.

Bertie: My roads being mended now.

Thomas: Oh I am glad.

Narrator: Replied Thomas.

Bertie: Thanks for all you added. I know I can trust an engine, especially if his name is Thomas.

Narrator: Gordon and James puffed silently away to the shed. But Thomas still had company.

Thomas: Well, well. What a day for surprises.

Narrator: The toad who was still looking to a ride home. Who noisily agreed…….
