Lady Hatt's Birthday Party

S5 Ep.04
Lady Hatt’s Birthday Party
Summary: It’s Sir Topham Hatt’s wife’s birthday and Sir Topham has brought himself a new suit, promising that he’ll be on time. But on his way to the Party, his car gets a flat tire—he tries catching a ride in Caroline, hut she goes too fast and her engine overheats. Then he tries riding on George, but gets splattered with oil, to add to that, George veers out of control and into a ditch. Sir Topham Hatt is thrown in the mud and is a complete mess. Thomas is close by, and so Sir Topham Hatt has no choice but to ride with him, and he’s standing in for Thomas’ ill fireman. He arrives at the station with time to spare, and he turns up at Lady Hatt’s Party, tired but triumphant, even though he is told that it wasn’t fancy dress!

Script

Narrator: One summer’s day, Thomas and Percy were idling in the station when Bertie the bus arrived.

Bertie: Have you noticed something?

Narrator: Said Bertie.

Thomas: What sort of something?

Bertie: Sir Topham Hatt! He well seems different.

Narrator: Replied Bertie.

Percy: I did see him staring at the clouds this morning. I wonder why?

Narrator: The reason was simple. It was Lady Hatt’s birthday and Sir Topham Hatt had a new outfit.

Lady Hatt: It’s perfect for my birthday party. You’ll look splendid, Sir Topham dear.

Sir Topham Hatt: And I’ll wear my finest hat. Just for you. Your birthday is a great occasion.

Lady Hatt: It is. So don’t be late.

Sir Topham Hatt: Don’t worry my dear. I shall be spic-and-span and right on time!

Narrator: Later that day, Sir Topham Hatt had changed into his new suit.

The stationmaster: You look fine, Sir! You best be going.

Sir Topham Hatt: Indeed! The engines are busy, I’ll take the car.

The stationmaster: Is it reliable?

Narrator: Asked the stationmaster.

Sir Topham Hatt: Certainly!

Narrator: Said Topham Hatt. But it wasn’t.

(Sir Topham Hatt puffing on his way to the party venue)

Narrator: As he sped along, he suddenly saw a large hole in the road. He braked hard, but it was too late.

Sir Topham Hatt: BOTHER! Now I’ve got a puncture. If I change my wheel I am sure to dirty my suit and that would never do.

Narrator: Just then he heard Caroline.

Sir Topham Hatt: I have to attend my wife’s birthday party and I cannot be late. Please give me a lift.

Caroline: I’ll try, Sir.

Narrator: But Caroline didn’t like going fast.

Caroline: I’m hot! My engine will overheat!

Narrator: And it did!

Caroline: Told you so.

Narrator: Said Caroline sadly.

Sir Topham Hatt: BOTHER! BOTHER!

Narrator: Then he heard a loud whistle. It was George the steamroller. George was cross when he saw Caroline.

George: Call yourself a car? You’re a disgrace to the road! Find yourself a scrap yard!

Narrator: Caroline spluttered in fury. George’s driver was more polite.

George’s driver: Can I be of assistance, Sir?

Sir Topham Hatt: Only if you can get into my wife’s birthday party.

Narrator: Sighed Sir Topham Hatt.

George’s driver: We can take you to Thomas. He’s just down the line.

Sir Topham Hatt: Obliged!

Narrator: And they rumbled away.

Caroline: What about me?!

Narrator: Wailed Caroline.

Sir Topham Hatt: I’ll send for help! Stay there!

Caroline: That’s all I can do!

Narrator: George was enjoying rolling along the lane but not Sir Topham Hatt. Oil splashed everywhere. Worse was to follow.

George: HELP! SOMETHING SNAPPED!

Narrator: He feared out of control and Sir Topham Hatt landed in a muddy ditch close to where Thomas was taking up water!

(Sir Topham Hatt sinks down the ditch)

Sir Topham Hatt: BOTHER!!! BOTHER!!!

Narrator: Thomas had never seen Sir Topham Hatt in such a mess.

Thomas’ driver: Can I help you, Sir?

Narrator: Asked Thomas’ driver.

Sir Topham Hatt: Yes please. Get me to the station as fast as you can.

Thomas’ driver: I’m afraid our fireman’s taken ill.

Sir Topham Hatt: Then I’ll be your fireman.

Narrator: Sighed Sir Topham Hatt. Thomas was excited. Sir Topham Hatt had to work hard. Coal dust and smoke flew everywhere.

(Thomas arrives at the station)

Narrator: At last they reached the station. Sir Topham Hatt looked at the clock.

Sir Topham Hatt; Just in time!

Narrator: He gasped. He hurriedly picked up a huge bunch of flowers.

Thomas: Good luck!

Narrator: Called Thomas. Sir Topham Hatt’s wife was waiting for him, as the clock struck three, there stood Sir Topham Hatt, tired but triumphant. He gave his wife the bunch of flowers.

Lady Hatt: Well thank you my dear. I know I know this was my special birthday party but I didn’t know was fancy dress.

Narrator: Everyone laughed. And then the party began…………

Or get down at heart
Never lose faith in positive thinking, you’ll be amazed when you achieve
All the things you start, (all the things you start)

Never, never, never give up
Even though the going’s tough
Don’t stop trying when you’re tiring, when you’re out of puff

No!
Never, never, never give up
Even though you’re feeling rough
If at first you don’t succeed, never, never, never give up

If at first you don’t succeed then try and try again
Nothing but life is never as easy
But you’ll get there in the end
(Get there in the end)

So blow your cares and woes behind you, start a brand new day
Nothing can stop you reaching your goal
If you’re determined you can do
And you won’t find the way (you won’t find the way)

Never, never, never give up
Even though the going’s though
Don’t stop trying when you’re tiring, when you’re out of puff

Never, never, never, give up
Even though you’re feeling rough
If at first you don’t succeed
Never, never, never give up

Something’s seem impossible
Answers hard to find
No matter how improbable
You won’t until you try

You can do whatever you choose
It just takes a little luck
So remember,

Thomas comes to breakfast

S2 Ep. 18
Thomas Comes To Breakfast
Summary: Thomas’ driver jokes that Thomas could almost run his branch line without him. Thomas does not realize he is joking though, and becomes very conceited. He brags to Percy and Toby later at the sheds, and both tell Thomas that he needs a driver, but to no avail. Thomas wakes up as the warmth spreads through his boiler, and then realizes his opportunity to run by himself and prove Percy and Toby wrong by stopping and wheeshing in front of them. Thomas slowly starts moving along the track, but does not know that he is only moving because a careless cleaner has fiddled with his controls. Thomas quickly realizes he has made a huge mistake, but cannot do anything about it without his driver. At the end of the tracks sits the stationmaster’s house. Thomas crashes through the end buffers, the fence and the front window just as the family was sitting down for breakfast. The house was rocked and plaster and broken glass are everywhere.

Script

Narrator: Thomas the Tank Engine has worked his branch line for many years and knows it very well.

(Thomas whistles twice)

(Thomas stops at Tidmouth Station)

Thomas’ driver: You know just where to stop, Thomas. You could almost managed it without me.

Narrator: Thomas had become conceited. He didn’t realize his driver was joking.

(Thomas leaves the station)

Narrator: Later he boasted to the others.

Thomas: Driver says I don’t need him now.

Percy: Don’t be so daft!

Narrator: Snorted Percy.

Toby: I’d never go without my driver. I’d be frightened.

Thomas: Puh! I’m not scared. You’d never dare. I would then. You’ll see.

Narrator: The next morning the firelighter came. Thomas drowsed comfortably as warmth spread through his boiler. Percy and Toby was still asleep. Thomas suddenly remembered.

Thomas: Silly stick-in-the-muds! I’ll show them. Driver said I could manage without him! I’ll just go out and then I’ll stop and wheeeeesh! That’ll make them jump.

Narrator: Thomas thought he was being clever but really he was only moving because a careless cleaner had meddled with his control and soon found his mistake. He tried to wheeeeesh but he couldn’t. He tried to stop but he couldn’t. He just kept rolling along. He didn’t dare look at what was coming next… there was the stationmaster’s house! The stationmaster was about to have breakfast.

Thomas: HORRORS!!!!!!!

Narrator: Cried Thomas and shut his eyes.

(Thomas crashes into the stationmaster’s house)

Narrator: The house rocked. Broken glass tinkled. Plaster was everywhere. Thomas had collected a bush on his travels. He peered into the room through its leaves. He couldn’t speak. The stationmaster was furious. His wife picked up her plate.

The stationmaster’s wife: YOU MISERABLE ENGINE! JUST LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO OUR BREAKFAST! NOW I SHALL HAVE TO COOK SOME MORE!

Narrator: She banged the door. More plaster fell. This time it fell on Thomas. Thomas felt depressed. Workmen propped up the house with strong poles and laid rails through the garden. Then the Scottish Twin Engines, Donald and Douglas arrived.

(Donald and Douglas whistle)

Donald + Douglas: We dinna fash yerself Thomas. We’ll soon heave you back on the rails.

Narrator: They laughed.

(The Scottish Twin Engines pull Thomas back on the rails)

Narrator: Donald and Douglas puffing hard manage to haul Thomas back on safety. It’s offensing a bush and a broken window frame festooned front was badly twisted. The twins laughed and left him.

(Douglas whistles goodbye to Thomas)

Narrator: Thomas was in disgrace. There was worse to come.

Sir Topham Hatt: You’re in a lot of trouble, Thomas.

Thomas: I know, Sir. I’m sorry, Sir.

Narrator: Thomas’ voice was muffled behind his bush.

Sir Topham Hatt: You must go to the Works and have your front mended. It will be a long job.

Thomas: Yes, Sir.

Sir Topham Hatt: Meanwhile a diesel railcar will do your work.

Thomas: A diesel, Sir?

Narrator: Thomas spluttered.

Sir Topham Hatt: Yes, Thomas. Diesels always stay in their sheds to lay our wanted.

Narrator: Diesels never galavant off to breakfast in stationmaster’s houses……….

Fish

S4 Ep.24
Fish (GC)
Summary: A special order of fish is brought into the harbor, and so old and rickety vans are coupled to the end of the Flying Kipper. Thomas warns Duck that fish can be a bother (going by his own experience). Later that night, Duck banker for Henry up Gordon’s Hill, but the tail lamp on the end of the train falls off. Duck gets confused, no longer able to see the train, which causes Henry to slow down. Blindly, Duck speed up in an attempt to find the train and crashes into the rear van, sending a fish everywhere. He knows exactly what Thomas means.

Script

Narrator: On starry nights when the moon is full and the air is still, you can hear the sounds of far away ships and distant laughter’s. They echo over the hills and through the valleys. Down calm canals and sleepy. Every engine knows that these are the sounds that say the harbor is hard at work at the big station by the sea. One night a special a special load of fish was ordered. Sir Topham Hatt decided that extra vans must be added to the train the men called “The Flying Kipper”. The only vans available are the old ones. They hadn’t been used for a long time. Henry waited impatiently by the key side as Duck shunted them into position. Thomas puffed by with the mail train.

Thomas: Hello, Duck. Going fishing? I’d take care if I were you.

Duck: Why?

Narrator: Huffed Duck.

Thomas: Well for one thing, if fish get into an engines boiler they always cause trouble. And for another, fish can be awfully smelly. And I know what I’m talking about? Good night.

(Thomas puffs away)

Narrator: Henry grunted dreadfully.

Henry’s driver: You’ll just have to put up with it, Henry.

Narrator: Said his driver.

Henry’s driver: At least the extra load will mean you can have another engine help us up Gordon’s Hill.

(Henry sets off)

Narrator: Meanwhile Duck was waiting at Edward Station so that he could help the heavy train by pushing from behind. Henry made good progress. When he reached Edward Station, his driver stopped the train beyond the platform. Then Henry gave a special signal.

Henry: Peep. Peep. Peep. Peep. I need help please!

Duck: Peep. Peep.

Narrator: Replied Duck.

Duck: It won’t be long!

Narrator: Duck buffered gently up to Henry’s train. He was not coupled on. Henry would then be able to run on without stopping when they reached the top of the hill.

Duck: Ready!

Narrator: Whistled Duck. And off they went. Soon they reached Gordon’s Hill

Henry: Push hard! Push hard!

Narrator: Puffed Henry.

Duck: We’re doing it! We’re doing it!

Narrator: Replied Duck. Henry was pulling his train harder than he realized.

(The lamp falls down)

Narrator: Duck felt the weight on his buffers slacking. Then Duck noticed something else.

Duck: There is no sign of a tail lamp!

Narrator: He puffed. And he whistled but there was no reply. Meanwhile Henry noticed something too.

Henry: My train’s getting heavier!

Narrator: He thought to himself.

Henry: I’m slowing down!

Narrator: Then there was trouble…

(Duck crashes into the loads of Henry)

(Henry stops at the hill)

Narrator: No one was hurt. But a strong smell of fish rolled into the air. The next day, workmen found the broken tail lamp at the bottom of the hill.

(Workmen look at the broken tail lamp)

Narrator: Sir Topham Hatt spoke kindly to Duck.

Sur Topham Hatt: The accident wasn’t your fault. We should’ve checked that this tail lamp was fixed on properly. We’ll soon have you in working in order again.

Duck: Thank you, Sir.

Narrator: Said Duck sadly.

Duck: Thomas told me to be careful about fish. They got me in the right pickle didn’t they?

Percy's Big Mistake

S8 Ep.07
Percy’s Big Mistake
Summary: Percy is a very busy engine with many jobs to do, perhaps too many jobs as the workload often makes him late. One evening, Percy arrives late at Brendam Docks and the dock manager decides to tell Sir Topham Hatt about Percy being late. When Percy arrives at Tidmouth Sheds, that evening he hears Sir Topham Hatt, talking to his driver though he tries to ignore it. When Sir Topham Hatt mentions “ Percy must go to the scrap yard tomorrow” Percy is worried; he quickly jumps to the conclusion that due to his lateness, he is going to be scrapped.

Script

Narrator: Percy is a little green engine who can shunt and pull. He pulls both passengers and freight. At the Docks and at the Quarry. Percy’s favorite job is carrying the mail. But sometimes Percy has so much to do. He ends up running late. One evening Percy arrived late at Brendam Docks.

Dock Manager: You’re late again, Percy.

Narrator: Called the Dock Manager.

Dock Manager: I will have to speak to Sir Topham Hatt.

Narrator: Percy is upset. Percy returned to Tidmouth Sheds. The other engines were already asleep. Then Percy heard voices from the other side of the sheds. It was Sir Topham Hatt and he was talking to Percy’s driver. Percy tried not to listen, but he couldn’t help himself.

Sir Topham Hatt: Percy has been late too often this week. He must go to the scrap yards tomorrow.

Percy: Sir Topham Hatt wants to scrap me!

Narrator: Gasped Percy. Percy worried all night long. The next morning the sun shone and the birds sang. But Percy was too upset to notice.

Percy: Sir Topham Hatt wants to scrap me! And because I was late!

Thomas:  Sir Topham Hatt wouldn’t scrap a really useful engine and you Percy are a really useful engine!

Narrator: Percy felt better until he noticed the time.

Percy: I’m going to be late!

Narrator: He cried. Percy weeshed away. If he was on time maybe Sir Topham Hatt wouldn’t send them to the scrap yards. Percy’s first job was collecting pipes at Brendam Docks. But when he arrived Cranky was still unloading.

Percy: Hurry up slow coach!

Narrator: Wheeshed Percy.

Percy: I must be on time!

Cranky: I’ll take as long as I like!

Narrator: Wheeshed Cranky. And he went slower than ever. The moment Cranky clichéd, Percy took off. He hadn’t wait for the pipes to be having it tied down. Percy rounded a bend. The pipes slipped and fell all over the track. But Percy puffed on. Percy thought he had delivered the pipes so he chuffed away for his next job. Percy needs to take the TAR wagons to the workmen mending the road.

Percy’s driver: Be careful!

Narrator: Called Percy’s driver.

Percy’s driver: TAR is a sticky stuff!

Narrator: But Percy wasn’t being careful. He was going too fast. Percy charged down Gordon’s Hill. He didn’t see Gordon and the Express until it was too late. The Brake van past Gordon but the TAR wagons didn’t!

(TAR can fly high and lands over Gordon)

Narrator: Luckily no one was hurt… but Gordon was very cross.

Gordon: Now look what you have done!

Narrator: He wheeshed.

Gordon: What will Sir Topham Hatt say?

Narrator: Percy thought he knew.

Percy: Oh no! I’m sure be scrapped now!

Narrator: And so, Percy decided to run away. Harvey’s cleared away the TAR wagons when Sir Topham Hatt arrived aboard on Thomas.

Sir Topham Hatt: Where is Percy?

Narrator: He said.

Sir Topham Hatt: He has caused confusion and delay.

Narrator: Gordon didn’t know.

Gordon: Uh… he just left very quickly, Sir.

Thomas: He heard you in the sheds, Sir. He thought he would be sending him to the scrap yards.

Sir Topham Hatt: Hmmm…. I think I need a word from Percy. You must all help me find him. And so everyone looked for Percy. They searched high… and they searched low. They looked two and for Percy everywhere.

Percy: What’s the become of me?

Narrator: Percy whispered. But there was no one around to hear. Percy looked very small and he felt very lonely. Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt were looking for Percy in Thomas’ branch line. Thomas suddenly had an idea.

Thomas: I think I know were Percy is, Sir.

Narrator: He said. And they went to Tidmouth Sheds as fast as he could. The Sheds looked quiet as Thomas rolled in.

Sir Topham Hatt: Percy? Are you there?

Percy: Please don’t scrap me, Sir! I didn’t mean to be late or cause trouble.

Sir Topham Hatt: Scrap you?! Why the very thought of it.

Narrator: And Sir Topham Hatt told Percy of what he had said.

Sir Topham Hatt: I told your driver you’ve been working very hard that is why you were late. I had decided that taking some scrap yards to the smelters yard. You were to carry the mail. All week.

Narrator: Percy was happy as he had ever been.

Percy: Do you really mean it Sir?

Narrator: Puffed Percy proudly.

Percy: The mail for a whole week?! Thank you, Sir!!!!

Narrator: Percy couldn’t stop himself tooting for joy. Thomas tooted too. It was good to have his friend back. So Percy carried the mail all week. He wasn’t late and he wasn’t making a mistake. Not even one, and Percy never listen to listen to silly stories ever again. Especially not one made for himself……….

Percy's Chocolate Crunch

S6 Ep.18
Percy’s Chocolate Crunch
Summary: More often than not, Percy gets the dirty jobs involving trucks and longs for a wash down as much as any engine, Percy and the other engines are informed by Sir Topham Hatt that, due to a water shortage, all engines can only have one wash per day. This annoys Percy as he thinks Gordon only needs a wash down feel important. Gordon points that he is important as he pulls the express.

Script

Narrator: Sir Topham Hatt’s engines love being shiny and clean and it makes them feel cheerful as they puff across the Island Of Sodor.

(Gordon whistles)

(Toby whistles)

(Duck whistles to Thomas and Thomas whistles back to Duck)

Narrator: Percy often has the dirtiest work to do. But he likes to be clean as well as any other engine. Wash downs are important to Percy. But Sir Topham hatt had bad news

Sir Topham Hatt: Due to a water shortage, no engine shall have more than one wash down a day usefulness before cleanliness.

Narrator: He added and left. Percy was upset.

Percy: I get dirty! I need wash downs! Gordon only does it to feel important.

Gordon: I am important! I am an express engine!

James: You’re a pouty puffer, Percy!

Narrator: Teased James.

Percy: No I’m not!

Narrator: Whesehed Percy and he chuffed away. Percy was loading freight cars at the Docks. He was trying extra hard to stay clean. But the Troublesome Trucks were naughty. As Percy push them under the coal shoot they sang out…

Troublesome Trucks: On! On! On!

Narrator: They cried. Percy found himself under the coal shoot and coal dust flew everywhere!

Percy: Oh no! (coughs)

Narrator: Coughed Percy.

Percy: I’m filthy!

Narrator: Percy felt awful. But he knew he had to carry on. On the way to Callan station the Troublesome Trucks teased Percy even more.

Troublesome Trucks: Clickety-clack! Don’t look back! Dirty Percy’s on our track!

Percy: Be quiet!

Narrator: Percy snapped. When Percy arrived at Callan station he was very upset.

Percy: From now on, I’m only do work where I won’t get dirty!

Narrator: Harold the Helicopter was at Callan station picking up medical supplies.

Harold: Hello, Percy!

Narrator: He called.

(Harold flies up)

Narrator: And took off wailing cinders and ashes everywhere.

Percy: Not again! I want a wash down!

Percy’s driver: Usefulness before cleanliness.

Percy: I want to be useful where I can’t get dirty!

Percy’s driver: There’s a load of Sugar going to the Chocolate Factory. We could take the Sugar cars!

Percy: Sugar! That’s nice and clean!

Narrator: Percy was pleased.

(Percy sets off)

Narrator: Percy didn’t know that earlier a leaky freight car had spilled oil on the track. When he approached the Chocolate Factory his driver applied the brakes…but Percy’s wheels skitted and skated onto the oily rails!

Percy: Oh no!

Narrator: Hooted Percy.

(Percy goes to the Chocolate Factory)

(The 6 windows crash from inside it)

Percy: Yuck! I’ve never been this dirty!

Narrator: He was covered from funnel to fire box… in sticky gooey chocolate! Back at the sheds everyone thought it was very funny.

Thomas: You look good enough to eat!

James: Bon bon Percy!-US/Pudding Percy!-UK!

Henry: Choc ice on wheels!

Gordon: Disgraceful!

Sir Topham Hatt: Ahem!

Narrator: It was Sir Topham Hatt.

Sir Topham Hatt: You had a tiring day, Percy.

Percy: Yes, sir.

Sir Topham Hatt: But you’ve showed us all that usefulness does come before cleanliness. So you shall have your wash down.

Percy: Oh, sir!!

Sir Topham Hatt: And a new coat of paint!

Narrator: Percy just beamed……….

Put upon Percy

S5 Ep.09
Put Upon Percy
Summary: Percy is grumbling that he has too much work, hence the word “put upon”. After an extremely busy day, he returns to the shed tired and dirty. Next day, however, disaster strikes at the coalmines, and an avalanche erupts. Percy and his crew take shelter by a canvas barrier along the Cliffside, which saves them from being crushed by the rocks, but gets them buried all the same. After being dug out, Percy is rewarded with a new coat for his bravery. He doesn’t mind that being put upon him!

Script

Narrator: Percy huffed grumpily into the yards. He was feeling put upon and said so.

Percy: I feel put upon.

Narrator: He complained to Thomas. Thomas was confused.

Thomas: Put upon what? The rails?

Percy: No. Put upon with work. Driver says he is too.

Thomas: Put upon?! What a silly saying.

Narrator: Replied Thomas. But Annie and Clarabel and they sang bout it too.

Annie + Clarabel: Percy’s been put upon, put upon, put upon. Percy’s been put upon. Poor old Percy!

Narrator: Percy is being put upon.

Percy: I am! I am! I am!

(Percy chuffs away)

Narrator: He collected the metal from the foundry… coal from the yards… flower from the mills… rocks from the Quarry… and fuel from the deepho. Then he delivered it all to the Docks. Next he collected some empty freight cars.

Freight car 1: Who’s this dirty little engine?

Freight car 2: We want Thomas or Duck!

Narrator: Percy ignored them.

Percy: Put upon. Put upon. That’s what I am!

Narrator: That night all the engines laughed at him.

(Henry, Gordon and James whistle)

Thomas: We can see what is been put upon you!

Narrator: Said Thomas.

Sir Topham Hatt: Silence! Percy you’ve done a good days work. Now get a good nights rest.

Percy: Yes sir. Thank you, sir.

Narrator: Next morning, he took some freight cars into the yards. Then he had to push the empty freight cars into the coalmines. When he arrived there was trouble. The formance spoke to his driver.

The formance: The freight cars are stuck in the meganisim. All they need is a good push.

Percy’s driver: We’ll do it right away.

Narrator: Percy shunted back to the large canvas carrier that is used to protect his line from those rocks. Percy charged the line of freight cars too fast and too hard.

Percy: Oh no!

Narrator: Gasped Percy. The freight cars broke free but ran out of control to the mines below.

The Freight Cars: On! On! Faster! Faster!

Narrator: The silly freight cars yelled. Then there was trouble again!

(Freight cars crash into a wall)

(Siren wails)

(Mine rumbles)

Miner: Get out of here fast! The mine’s collapsing!

(Mine rumbles)

(Mine explodes)

Percy’s driver: We’ll just have to make a run for it Percy!

Narrator: Called his driver.

Percy: There’s going an avalanche!

Narrator: Wailed Percy. And he was right. Worse still the track he was on began to crumble.

Percy: Oh help!

Narrator: Wailed Percy. Then he remembered something he had seen earlier.

Percy: There is a canvas barrier by the track. That might save us!

Narrator: They were just in time!

(The canvas and rocks fall down on Percy)

Narrator: Percy was right. The canvas did indeed save them. But the miners didn’t know that.

The formance: The avalanche has buried an engine’s crew!

Narrator: Shouted the formance.

The formance: We must help them!

Narrator: When Percy had been rescued, Sir Topham Hatt spoke to Percy’s driver and fireman then to Percy.

Sir Topham Hatt: Driver told me how brave you are, Percy. As a reward you will be repainted at the works.

Percy: Oh thank you, Sir.

Narrator: When he returned Percy’s paint glistened in the sun.

Thomas: I’m sorry I teased you, Percy. You were certainly put upon on by that avalanche.

Percy: Yes indeed but just look at my coat of paint. Now I don’t mind being put upon……
